THE PROBLEM

Electronic contraband, specifically cellphones, are dangerous items in jails and restricted access areas. They can be used to coordinate and conduct illicit activity that can result in crimes such as robberies, assaults, riots, and even murders. They are often hard to find even with modern metal detectors and full body scanners.

PROPOSAL

We propose a device that can be added to the arsenal of existing tools. In this case we are proposing a special type of radar called a harmonic radar. It works by sending a test frequency and receiving harmonics that are generated by interacting with an electronic device. This can allow for detection of hidden electronics and provide an extra layer of security to law enforcement and other security agencies.
